Jimmy Kimmel Aims to Bring Trump on His Show After Years-Long Feud
Jimmy Kimmel Expresses Willingness to Invite President Trump on His Show
During a panel at Bloomberg Screentime, comedian and late-night host Jimmy Kimmel revealed he’s open to having former President Donald Trump as a guest on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”.
“I’d love to have Trump on the show, for sure,” Kimmel told Bloomberg’s Lucas Shaw, adding, “Yeah…I’ll ask him.”
While Trump has previously appeared on Kimmel’s show in 2016, their relationship has been tumultuous. The former President notably celebrated when Kimmel’s show was temporarily suspended following a joke about Charlie Kirk’s death, which Trump posted on social media, criticizing the host’s talent and ratings.
Kimmel defended his political commentary, stating, “My job as I see it is to talk about the news of the day,” explaining that he’s always been interested in politics, though he wasn’t especially political before. He emphasized that current events demand discussion, making politics a natural part of his late-night segments.
Background and Recent Tensions
Trump, who has yet to respond to Kimmel’s invitation, has criticized the comedian publicly. After Kimmel’s suspension, Trump wrote on Truth Social, “Great News for America: The ratings-challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED,” praising ABC for taking action. This sparked a legal threat from Trump, who accused Kimmel of being aligned with the Democratic National Committee and called the host an “Illegal Campaign Contribution.”
