Man Fatally Beaten Outside Brooklyn Subway Station
In a brutal assault outside the Jay Street-MetroTech subway station in downtown Brooklyn, a man in his 50s was attacked and left for dead. The victim was found unconscious with severe injuries across his face and body around 3:07 p.m., near Lawrence Street and Willoughby Street. He was transported to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead at 4:33 p.m.
Sources report the suspect, believed to be a man in his 20s, violently beat the victim—punching him repeatedly in the face and stomping on his head up to 15 times, resulting in a fractured skull. The attacker then rummaged through the victim’s belongings before violently tossing him around, with footage capturing the assault and theft.
The suspect was last seen wearing black pants with a yellow stripe, a dark shirt with white lettering, and blue loafers. He was arrested later that evening in Times Square, before 10 p.m. No motive has been established for the attack.
Meanwhile, another violent incident occurred roughly 45 minutes later at the Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue station in Queens, where a 43-year-old man was slashed in the face and neck with a knife. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition. Authorities recovered a knife at the scene, but no arrests have been made in connection with that stabbing.
