Thomas Tuchel’s Text to Adam Wharton After England Snub Revealed
Thomas Tuchel’s Text Message to Adam Wharton After England Snub
Adam Wharton shared details of a message he received from Thomas Tuchel following his continued omission from England’s national team selections. Despite being one of the most in-form midfielders in the Premier League this season and having earned a single England cap as a substitute in a friendly last June, Wharton has not been called up again.
The 21-year-old, who plays for Crystal Palace, expressed no bitterness about his exclusion, stating that Tuchel sent him a supportive message. Wharton revealed that Tuchel told him he is performing well and close to making the squad, but that the team selection would remain the same for now. Wharton commented, “He just told me I’m playing well and deserve to be there, but he’s sticking with the current team.”
Wharton acknowledged the intense competition for midfield positions in England’s squad, which includes players like Jordan Henderson, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Declan Rice. Nonetheless, he remains optimistic about his prospects, emphasizing his focus on performing well for Crystal Palace. “If I keep playing well for Palace, England recognition should come,” he said.
Despite Palace’s recent 19-match unbeaten streak ending with a loss to Everton, Wharton remains hopeful about future opportunities, including selection for the upcoming World Cup. He stated, “Everyone wants to play for their country if chosen, but I understand the competition. I’ll continue to work hard and hope to get called up.”
Wharton’s performance this season has been impressive, and he believes that, with continued effort, he can strengthen his chances of representing England in the future.
