Pete Hegseth Breaks Record with Navy Football Pushup Marathon
Navy Celebrates Victory and Breaks Push-Up Record
During the Navy versus Air Force football game, Navy secured a thrilling 34-31 win. In addition to the victory, a remarkable feat was achieved on the sidelines. US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth joined a push-up challenge involving cadets, officers, and fans, breaking a Guinness World Record for the most people performing push-ups simultaneously for one minute.
The record was shattered with 3,068 participants, surpassing the previous mark held by the Air Force Academy, which had set the record at 2,926 in April 2023.
Hegseth’s impressive effort garnered praise on social media, highlighting his leadership during the event. He also energized the crowd and rallied the players with a spirited locker room speech after the game concluded.

This victory keeps Navy (5-0) in strong contention to retain the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy, awarded annually to the top service academy team, with the next opportunity to secure it during the Army-Navy game on December 13. Earlier in the day, Hegseth also dismissed Navy Chief of Staff Jon Harrison, who was appointed in January.
