Lando Norris: I’ll Never Be as Good as Max Verstappen!

Norris Praises Verstappen’s Exceptional Skill and Confidence in the Drivers’ Arena

Lando Norris has described Max Verstappen as the greatest driver in the world, attributing his dominance to his exceptional talent and instinct. Norris’s candid comments came ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, where he is competing against his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri for the championship.

Norris recognizes the threat Verstappen poses, noting that the Dutch driver, despite being 69 points behind the leader with only seven races remaining, is a formidable contender. When asked if drivers collectively regard Verstappen as the ultimate benchmark, Norris affirmed, “It is hard to beat someone born into an F1 seat.” He lauded Verstappen as possibly the best in the sport’s history, alongside legends like Lewis Hamilton.

Norris explained that Verstappen’s success largely hinges on decision-making, understanding car dynamics, and risk assessment—often subconscious skills that set him apart. “He consistently delivers impressive lap times and rarely pushes beyond 100%,” Norris added. Despite occasional mistakes, Verstappen levels his effort, operating almost at peak performance every time.

Regarding his own prospects, Norris was cautious about ever matching Verstappen’s level. “It’s difficult to say I could be as good as him,” he admitted. “He is one of the best ever, and saying otherwise would be a lie. Still, I believe some days I can be better, and my teammate and others might feel the same.”

Norris concluded that Verstappen’s supreme consistency is what makes him so exceptional, and regardless of who wins this season, the admiration for Verstappen’s skill remains unmatched.
