One Direction Members Reuniting for New Netflix Show After Liam Payne’s Departure

Reunion in the Works: Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson to Star in Netflix Documentary

Two former members of the band One Direction, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson, are set to reunite for a new Netflix documentary. The project will feature a road trip across the United States, where they plan to reminisce about their time in the band and honor their late bandmate Liam Payne.

Filming has already commenced, with a release date expected next year. Malik, 32, and Tomlinson, 33, secured a lucrative deal with the streaming platform to produce this documentary, which is expected to generate significant buzz among fans and industry observers alike.

The documentary aims to explore the group’s journey since forming on The X Factor over 15 years ago. It will include candid discussions about their experiences, the band’s evolution, and the memories of Liam Payne, who tragically passed away in October 2024 after falling from his hotel window in Buenos Aires. Toxicology reports revealed he had been under the influence of multiple substances at the time of his death.

The reunion and documentary come amid speculation that the band was planning a comeback before Payne’s untimely death. Prior to the tragedy, all five original members—Malik, Tomlinson, Payne, Harry Styles, and Niall Horan—had been in talks to hold one last reunion show.

The group went on an indefinite hiatus in 2016 after Malik left in 2015. Since then, members have pursued solo careers, with Harry Styles achieving significant success, including winning a Grammy for his album Harry’s House in 2023.

Malik has previously spoken about his difficult experiences within the band, including in his song Fuchsia Sea, which contains lyrics reflecting feelings of racial discrimination.
