Don Lemon: ‘White men’ to Blame for US Mass Violence in Controversial Rant

Former CNN Anchor Don Lemon Sparks Controversy with Racist Remarks

Don Lemon, ex-CNN anchor, stirred controversy after launching into a bizarre and intense rant blaming white men for America’s ongoing issues with violence. During his podcast, Lemon questioned whether white men were okay, citing the deployment of troops and National Guard to cities, and challenging the narrative about black-on-black crime.

He claimed, “This country keeps waking up to violence—bodies in pews, blood on floors, gunfire in public—and the faces behind the trigger are almost always the same.” Lemon doubled down on his provocative statements, asserting, “This is just the truth, I don’t care if you get mad about it,” despite widespread backlash online. Many accused him of racism, especially after he singled out white men’s supposed internal brokenness and violent tendencies.

Lemon and his husband, Tim Malone, married last year in a grand ceremony in Manhattan.

Critics, including conservative commentator Benny Johnson, highlighted Lemon’s marriage to a white man and called his accusations hypocritical. Lemon, 59, who is married to Tim Malone, 40, married in a lavish event at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, a few years after their engagement in 2019.

Following his unorthodox rant, CNN issued a statement clarifying that Lemon’s comments were inaccurate and noting he was offered a chance to meet with management but chose instead to post publicly on Twitter. Lemon’s firing from CNN was reportedly unexpected, with the network emphasizing that his statements do not reflect their views.

Previously, Lemon faced criticism for comments on GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley’s age, and reports of an off-camera conflict with co-host Kaitlan Collins. After leaving CNN, he was briefly offered a show by Elon Musk on X but the project was canceled before it started.

Currently, Lemon hosts “The Don Lemon Show,” an independent podcast, continuing his media career outside traditional networks.
