Arteta’s Unusual Training Technique with RAF Fighter Pilots Revealed!
Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta Shares Unconventional Training Method Involving RAF Pilots
Arsenal’s head coach, Mikel Arteta, has announced a new, unconventional training technique aimed at enhancing team communication. He plans to collaborate with Royal Air Force fighter pilots to understand and incorporate their precise communication methods into his team’s training programs.
Arteta has previously experimented with unusual tactics, such as hiring professional pickpockets to simulate theft during team dinners, teaching players to stay alert. He also played loud recordings of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ during training to prepare his players for the intimidating atmosphere at Liverpool’s Anfield stadium.
Using Military Communication for Better Leadership
During a recent event with basketball legend Steve Kerr, Arteta explained his idea to mimic military communication protocols, which rely on succinct and vital commands. He said, “Military pilots use one-word instructions for critical situations, reducing the risk of errors that could be deadly. I want to learn how they communicate and adapt that to football.”

He added that he plans to bring RAF pilots in to analyze how their communication process works during high-pressure situations, aiming for greater clarity and efficiency. “We want to understand how they think, operate, and how this knowledge can be applied in football,” he explained.

Additional Innovations
This season, Arteta has also taken measures at the Emirates Stadium to improve focus and performance, including removing the outer cover of the tunnel to prevent noise from muffling players’ walkouts. The coach even keeps a Labrador named Win at training grounds to foster a positive environment.
