Georgia T:e:e:n Amy Reidling Vanishes After Homecoming Dress Shopping—Parents Suspect Online Lure
Missing Georgia Teen Sparks Concerns of Online Lure
A 14-year-old girl from Decatur, Georgia, has been missing for several days after disappearing just after shopping for her homecoming dress. Her family fears she may have been enticed online and taken by strangers.
Amy Reidling was last seen at her residence on Sunday afternoon. Her stepmother, Ginny Rutledge, discovered her daughter was missing that evening when she returned home from dinner and found the house empty.
“I opened the door and she was gone. I searched everywhere,” Rutledge said. Her parents suspect Amy might have met someone online who persuaded her to run away.
Earlier that day, Amy was excited about the upcoming homecoming event and had gone shopping with her stepmother. Since her disappearance, she has been unheard from on social media, and her phone is forwarding directly to voicemail. She also has little money on her and no contact with friends or family.
Her parents are deeply worried, fearing she might be in danger. “There’s a lot she doesn’t know, especially in a big city like Atlanta,” Rutledge expressed. “It’s cliché, but you never think it’ll happen to your child, and now here we are.”
Local police have issued a missing person alert, and her family has hired a private investigator to help find her. Amy is described as 5’1” tall, weighing about 105 pounds, with brown eyes, brown hair, and bangs.
Her family urges anyone with information to come forward and hopes for her safe return.
