Bloodthirsty Squirrel Attacks Calif. Neighborhood, Sends 2 to ER
Vicious Squirrel Attacks Multiple Residents in California Neighborhood
A highly aggressive squirrel has been causing panic in a neighborhood in Lucas Valley, California, by attacking residents and biting them. The rodent has attacked at least five people, with two requiring emergency room treatment.
One victim, Isabel Campoy, recounted how the squirrel lunged at her face while she was walking. She was doused with blood and had to seek medical attention for deep cuts and bruises on her arm. Another neighbor, Joan Heblack, was also attacked while out for a morning walk, with the squirrel clutching her leg and causing her to panic.
The neighborhood has responded with a flyer warning residents about the animal, which is believed to be responsible for additional attacks. The flyer humorously declares, “Attack squirrel beware!!!!!!!!” and emphasizes the seriousness of the situation.
An animal expert suggested that the squirrel might be acting territorially or has been conditioned to associate humans with food, possibly due to prior care. Vanessa Potter from WildCare explained that when squirrels don’t find food, they can become frustrated and more aggressive.
Fortunately, there have been no recent sightings of the squirrel, and residents hope it has left the area for good. The incidents have left the community feeling frightened, with Heblack describing the attacks as “very scary.”
