Nicolas Jackson Consulted Ex-Premier League Champion Before Chelsea to Bayern Transfer
Nicolas Jackson Consulted Former Premier League Player Before Transferring to Bayern Munich
Jackson revealed that he reached out to Sadio Mane, a former teammate and Bundesliga winner, for advice prior to his move to Bayern Munich. After a complex transfer process, Jackson joined the German club on a loan deal worth £14.2 million, with an obligation to purchase for £56.2 million if certain appearance milestones are met.
The transfer faced complications when Chelsea attempted to block it following an injury to Liam Delap. However, Jackson and his representatives refused to withdraw, allowing the move to proceed. Before finalizing the transfer, Jackson sought guidance from Mane, who played for Bayern in the 2022-23 season and now represents Al-Nassr.
Jackson shared that Mane, a celebrated Senegalese footballer, was instrumental in providing insight about the club’s winning culture. “He told me that Bayern is like a big family with a strong winning mentality. His advice was simple: work hard, stay humble, and be yourself,” Jackson explained. Despite initial hurdles, he was confident his transfer would go through, stating, “I never doubted signing with Bayern, so I remained composed.”
Mane enjoyed a notable stint at Liverpool and helped Bayern secure the Bundesliga title, scoring 12 goals in 38 appearances. Jackson, who previously played for Villarreal and Chelsea, struggled with consistency but has shown promise, scoring 30 goals in 81 matches for Chelsea and winning the Conference League and Club World Cup.
He expressed gratitude for Mane’s advice, emphasizing its significance in his decision-making process and his anticipation for his new chapter at Bayern.
