Ange Postecoglou to be announced as Nottingham Forest’s new manager today
Ange Postecoglou Set to Become Nottingham Forest’s New Manager Following Nuno Espirito Santo’s Dismissal
Nottingham Forest is expected to officially appoint Ange Postecoglou as their new head coach, following the recent resignation of Nuno Espirito Santo. Club owner Evangelos Marinakis has chosen Postecoglou, the former Tottenham Hotspur manager, to take over before Saturday’s Premier League match against Arsenal.
Postecoglou, of Greek heritage, and Marinakis previously met in July when Postecoglou received an award from the Greek Super League for his achievements with Tottenham, including winning the Europa League. Marinakis praised Postecoglou’s pride in his Greek roots and his notable success in transforming Tottenham’s fortunes, despite the club’s disappointing 17th-place finish last season, which led to his dismissal.

Postecoglou expressed pride at receiving his award, sharing his background and his motivation, which includes honoring his father’s sacrifices and his Australian-Greek identity. Despite leaving Greece at age five, he remains deeply connected to his heritage, promoting Greece through his success.
He will step into the role vacated by Nuno Espirito Santo, who was dismissed early Tuesday morning due to strained relations with club management. Nuno, who led Forest into European competition for the first time in decades, faced criticism over transfer policies and his strained rapport with owner Marinakis, particularly after clashes over club direction and structure.
In a club statement, Forest acknowledged Nuno’s contributions, especially for his role in their successful 2024/25 season, and expressed gratitude for his time at the club, despite the recent split.
