Survivor Rescued After 18 Hours Missing in Michigan Forest

A participant in a YouTube survival challenge was successfully rescued after being missing for nearly a day in a damp Michigan forest. Aerial footage captured her urgently signaling for help by waving at a helicopter overhead.

The 36-year-old woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, left a base camp in Pigeon River Country State Forest around 5 p.m. Friday to search for water but did not return. Search efforts by the show’s organizers soon ensued, utilizing drones and ground teams. The dense and storm-damaged woods complicated the search process.

By 10:40 a.m. Saturday, law enforcement teams, including canines and helicopters, located her deep within a swampy area. The terrain, scarred by recent ice storms, posed additional challenges. Emergency personnel managed to reach her safely and walked her out of the woods.
