PSG Furious at Deschamps Over Dembele’s Six-Week Hamstring Injury
PSG Furious with France Coach Didier Deschamps Over Ousmane Dembele’s Injury Decision
Paris Saint-Germain fans are reportedly upset with France manager Didier Deschamps after Ousmane Dembele sustained a serious hamstring injury during Friday’s 2-0 victory over Ukraine.
Dembele was brought on during the match but was forced to leave in the 81st minute due to a problem. The French team confirmed that he has a hamstring tear, keeping him out of action for up to six weeks.
A statement read: “Ousmane Dembélé suffered a significant injury to his right hamstring after leaving the pitch, and he is expected to be unavailable for around six weeks.”
Sources indicate that PSG critics are particularly unhappy with Deschamps for selecting Dembele to play, considering the injury was “ridiculous” and unnecessary. The decision has faced widespread condemnation in Paris.
Ousmane Dembele’s injury occurred during France’s match against Ukraine.
Deschamps defended his choice, stating: “I believed he was capable of performing at a high level, otherwise I wouldn’t have played him.” He added: “It’s unfortunate for him, but these things can happen to any player.”
The coach also mentioned that Dembele was fit and that he made the decision based on medical assessments and the player’s mindset. However, the injury was not the only setback for the team, as Desire Doué also suffered a calf strain and will be out for approximately four weeks.
With Dembele now sidelined, he will miss key Champions League fixtures against Atalanta and Barcelona, as well as a crucial Ligue 1 match against Marseille.
