Harry Kane & Bayern Mull Future Decision Amid Search for England Captain’s Successor
Harry Kane and Bayern Munich Face Critical Decision on Future
Bayern Munich are approaching a pivotal moment regarding the future of Harry Kane, with discussions underway about whether to extend his contract or allow him to leave. Kane, who joined Bayern in 2023 for £86.4 million, has become a key player, netting 91 goals in 100 appearances and winning the Bundesliga title and German Super Cup.
The 32-year-old striker still has two years remaining on his current deal, but the club is considering whether to renew to prevent losing him on a free transfer in 2027. Bayern has recently signed Nicolas Jackson on loan from Chelsea, with an obligation to buy next summer, as part of plans for Kane’s eventual successor.
Football expert Raphael Honigstein suggests the club views Jackson as potential future replacement, though Kane remains the star player and a central figure in the squad. Honigstein also noted that Bayern are aware Kane might leave earlier than his contract expiry, prompting them to plan ahead.
While Jackson is expected to play alongside or provide cover for Kane, he is unlikely to replace him soon. Instead, the club envisions Jackson as the long-term successor, preparing for a future without Kane.
Kane, who is second on the Premier League all-time top scorer list with 213 goals, is still chasing the record held by Alan Shearer, needing 48 more goals to surpass him. His future at Bayern remains uncertain, but both parties are expected to decide soon whether to extend his stay or part ways.
