Taylor Swift Will Not Attend the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards

It has been confirmed that Taylor Swift will be skipping this year’s MTV VMAs, which are set to take place this Sunday at the UBS Arena in New York. Despite being nominated for the highly sought-after Artist of the Year award, Swift will not be present at the ceremony.

Last year, Swift made a memorable appearance, taking home seven Moon Person trophies for her album The Tortured Poets Department and giving a heartfelt shout-out to her fiancé, Travis Kelce, while accepting the Video of the Year award.

Despite her absence this year, Swift expressed her affection for Kelce during her acceptance speech last year, praising him for bringing happiness and magic to her life. She said, “Everything this man touches turns into happiness and fun and magic, and I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot because I’ll always remember that.”

Swift received 12 nominations this year, including Song of the Year, Video of the Year, Best Collaboration, and Song of the Summer. It remains unclear why she will not be in attendance, particularly given her recent engagement to Kelce, who proposed last month after they began dating in summer 2023. Kelce is currently in Brazil for a Kansas City Chiefs game.
