Aryna Sabalenka Responds to Nick Kyrgios Ahead of ‘Battle of the Sexes’ Match
Aryna Sabalenka has publicly addressed comments made by Nick Kyrgios as their much-anticipated exhibition match draws near. The event, expected to take place in Hong Kong before the Australian Open in January, has generated significant excitement.
Currently in excellent form at the US Open, Sabalenka reached the final after defeating Jessica Pegula in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Kyrgios recently stirred controversy by suggesting he would not need to give his best effort to defeat the world No. 1.
Sabalenka responded positively, expressing enthusiasm about the idea of the match and noting it would be entertaining to compete against Kyrgios himself. She also remarked on Kyrgios’s confidence, highlighting his belief that he can win the encounter.

Kyrgios claimed that he wouldn’t need to exert maximum effort to beat Sabalenka
Kyrgios expressed his intent to compete fiercely, stating he would try his best to win and that the match would occur in front of a large audience to add pressure on his opponent. During a podcast interview, Kyrgios mentioned he’s ‘super excited’ to face Sabalenka but is confident he won’t see much of a threat from her, asserting that she genuinely believes she can win, but he doesn’t think she will beat him.
He added that he plans to give an effort level around 6-2, joking about the nature of men’s serves and the style of play. However, his ongoing injuries pose uncertainty about whether he will participate, as Kyrgios has been sidelined since March, withdrawing from major tournaments including Wimbledon, the French Open, and the US Open.
