Nikki Garcia Reveals Rare Insights on Co-Parenting with Artem Chigvintsev
Co-Parenting and Support Between Nikki Garcia and Artem Chigvintsev
Nikki Garcia has publicly praised her ex-husband, Artem Chigvintsev, for his supportive role in co-parenting their 5-year-old son, Matteo. During a podcast with her sister Brie, Nikki shared that Artem has been accommodating of her busy schedule, especially as she prepares to return to wrestling. She highlighted how he has been generous with his time and letting her spend more moments with their son.
After finalizing their divorce in May, Nikki emphasized that Matteo is adjusting well and thriving despite their evolving relationship. Brie echoed this sentiment, stating that Nikki and Artem are “a great team” when it comes to co-parenting their child.
The two started dating after they were partnered on “Dancing With the Stars” in 2017, married in Paris in August 2022, and welcomed Matteo in July 2020. However, the relationship ended shortly after their second wedding anniversary, with the couple sharing custody of Matteo and attending therapy and parenting classes as part of their divorce settlement.
In September 2024, Nikki requested full custody, but the court granted joint custody, with stipulations for supervised visits and anger management for Artem. This followed his arrest in 2024 on felony domestic violence charges, which were later dropped after he denied wrongdoing and claimed Nikki was the aggressor.
As part of their divorce agreement, Nikki pays Artem $3,500 monthly in child support and provides two lump sums of $100,000 each, according to reports.
