Woman Arrested for Shooting Her Boyfriend During Photoshoot
A woman in Las Vegas was taken into custody after she shot her boyfriend while posing with a firearm during an unplanned photoshoot. Authorities responded to the scene early morning on August 23, where they found 23-year-old Mark Gaughan lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his neck. Despite immediate medical efforts, he was declared dead at the scene.
Gaughan was reportedly taking photos of his girlfriend, 20-year-old Allysandra Blea, when the gun unexpectedly discharged, striking him. Blea claimed the shooting was accidental, believing the firearm was unloaded and had no rounds. She admitted she had never undergone firearm safety training and was unfamiliar with handling weapons safely.
Investigators discovered additional concerning details, including social media posts praising firearms and displaying her with various weapons. Authorities also recovered a Polaroid of Blea with a gun and another with a girl holding a knife from the scene.
The initial call to police came from Gaughan himself, who said the couple planned the photoshoot around 4:30 a.m. He confirmed he had verified the gun was unloaded before handing it to Blea, who later reported that the magazine was reinserted after she had gone inside to change clothes. Evidence suggests Blea had a strong fascination with firearms, with messages referencing her desire to shoot real people and discussions about using real targets, which she allegedly expressed on social media.
She was formally charged with Open Murder with a Deadly Weapon and was arrested without incident. Blea appeared in court, where she was represented by a public defender, and her preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 2.
