College Cheerleader Arrested in Infant’s Death in Kentucky

Authorities continue to investigate the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of a newborn whose body was discovered in a trash bag inside a university dorm room. The baby, a male, was found after the mother, 21-year-old Laken Snelling and a member of the University of Kentucky’s stunt team, was detained. An autopsy has confirmed the gender but has yet to determine the cause of death.

Snelling appeared in court wearing a red dress and makeup, accompanied by her father. She pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including concealing a birth, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse. She was released on a $100,000 bond and ordered to stay under home detention with her parents. Her next court appearance is scheduled for September 26.

The cause of the baby’s death remains unclear after a preliminary autopsy.

Some former classmates of Snelling have criticized her, describing her as “appearance-obsessed” and a serial bully who reportedly once tried to run someone over with her Jeep. A family member of one of her high school friends recounted instances of bullying, highlighting her aggressive behavior during their school years.

While her family has yet to comment publicly, reports indicate that Snelling’s focus on her image and social standing might have played a role in her past conduct.
