Hero Bystander Disarms G:u:n-Wielding Attacker at Alaska State Fair
Hero Disarms Armed Brawler During Alaska State Fair Brawl
A quick-thinking bystander intervened to prevent a deadly outcome during a chaotic fight at the Alaska State Fair. Jaden Perry, age 24, stepped in when he saw one of the participants pull out a gun amid the melee.
Without hesitation, Perry disarmed the individual, risking his own safety to protect innocent bystanders, including numerous families attending the event. A viral video captures Perry wrestling the firearm away from the aggressor as the fight unfolds around him.
“My first thought was that there are kids everywhere,” Perry recounted, emphasizing his concern for the safety of others. He added, “I didn’t think much during it, but afterward, I’m glad I did. I would do it again if needed. No one should have to bury their child or take their kid to the hospital because of this.”
The incident was partially captured on video, which shows Perry and fair staff rushing to break up the fight. During the chaos, one attacker attempts to cock his gun, but Perry manages to wrestle the weapon away.
While multiple people, including fair staff, intervened to stop the altercation, some fighters attempted retaliatory actions. Perry held the armed man’s arms to prevent any shots, as others pushed the aggressors away shouting, “Let it go!” and “Stop fighting!”
The full extent of any legal action taken remains unclear, and it’s uncertain what initially triggered the fight. Perry reflected on the incident, warning that such violence can erupt unexpectedly in any setting, regardless of laws or regulations.
“People need to be aware that things can go wrong at any minute, anywhere,” he said. “This shouldn’t happen, but unfortunately, it does—point blank. It’s an age where violence like this has become common.”
