California Healthcare Staff Fired for Mocking Patients in TikTok Video
Healthcare Workers Terminated Over Viral TikTok Mocking Patients
A group of former healthcare employees at Sansum Clinic in Santa Barbara was dismissed after they posted a controversial TikTok video that mocked patients in exam rooms. The video, now deleted, featured staff posing with bodily fluids left on exam tables, with captions such as “Guess the substance” and “Make sure you leave your healthcare workers sweet gifts like these!”
In one clip, a worker exhibited a stain on an exam table with a caption reading “Yes!” while giving a thumbs-up, and in another, a staff member bent over a large stain, sticking her tongue out. The video circulated widely online, prompting outrage and criticism for its disrespectful portrayal of patients.
The healthcare network, which is partnered with Sutter Health, expressed concern over the incident. A spokesperson stated, “Patient trust and dignity are always our top priority, and any behavior that compromises those standards is unacceptable.” The individuals involved in the video, which originated from the TikTok user @angieuncut, have since been fired, and it was confirmed that the post was made by a former employee who had not worked at the facility for two months.
Despite the video’s removal from TikTok, screenshots spread across other social media platforms, fueling public outrage. The incident gained significant attention on Reddit’s r/SantaBarbara, where over 1,000 comments criticized the behavior, with some users calling the employees unprofessional and promising to report the misconduct to higher authorities.
