Rudy Giuliani SharesPainful Update After Car Crash
Rudy Giuliani Injured in Car Accident in New Hampshire
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani described experiencing the most intense pain of his life following a severe car crash in New Hampshire that left him hospitalized with significant injuries and wearing a back brace.
Giuliani and his advisor, Ted Goodman, who was also involved in the collision, recounted the frightening moment when a speeding vehicle struck their rented SUV from behind Saturday night. Giuliani credited his seatbelt for saving his life, stating, “I would have been killed if I wasn’t wearing it.”
He described the impact as the hardest he’s ever felt, comparing it to two childhood accidents and football injuries. “It seemed like the car was going at 70-80 miles an hour, spun us slightly, and I was thrown forward and back with immediate pain in my body,” he explained on his show.
Giuliani, immobilized in pain, checked on Goodman, who was driving and appeared constricted by the steering wheel. Both were visibly battered, and Giuliani was fitted with a back brace designed to stabilize his fractured spine. He expects to be fully recovered within three to four weeks.
Prior to the crash, Giuliani said he and Goodman had just stopped to assist a domestic violence victim and call police. After merging back onto the highway, they were hit by the teenage driver, who appeared emotionally distressed and was crying.
The young driver, just 19, was involved in the crash, and all three individuals were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Giuliani sustained fractured vertebrae and cuts on his left arm and leg from the collision.
Giuliani was discharged from the hospital Monday after President Trump announced he would receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the country’s highest civilian honor. He expressed relief, joking, “That was actually the best medicine—feeling better after hearing about the medal.” He added he anticipates being fully healed in about a month.
