Chelsea and Bayern Munich agree world-record loan fee for Nicolas Jackson with £56.2m option to buy
Chelsea Secures Record-Breaking Loan Deal with Bayern Munich for Nicolas Jackson, with Option for Permanent Transfer
Chelsea has finalized a loan agreement with Bayern Munich for striker Nicolas Jackson, with the transfer potentially valued at up to £69.2 million (€80 million). Jackson has received clearance to travel and complete the move.
Under the terms of the deal, Chelsea will receive an initial fee of £13 million for loaning Jackson for the 2025-26 season. Additionally, Bayern Munich has the option to make the transfer permanent next summer for a further £56.2 million. Chelsea will also retain a sell-on fee for the player.
Jackson has an existing pre-contract with Bayern Munich, where he will join an attack already featuring Harry Kane. His departure follows his expressed desire to explore other opportunities, which led to him being sidelined from Chelsea’s pre-season friendlies and their opening Premier League fixtures.
This move comes after Chelsea strengthened their squad over the summer with new signings and had been monitoring the situation with other forwards such as Alexander Isak at Newcastle, waiting to see if they could negotiate a better deal or potentially sell Jackson again if the Bayern option is not exercised.
Initially valued at over £80 million, Jackson’s departure marks a significant change in Chelsea’s forward options for the season, with the possibility of him returning next year if Bayern declines to activate the purchase option.
