Miley Cyrus Dazzles in Body Paint for Maison Margiela Campaign
Miley Cyrus Debuts Bold Body Paint Campaign for Maison Margiela
Marking a milestone, Miley Cyrus has become the first celebrity to represent Maison Margiela in four decades, doing so through a striking body paint campaign for the Autumn/Winter 2025 season.
She stars in the maison’s Avant-Première campaign, captured by renowned photographer Paolo Roversi. Many images feature Cyrus completely nude, covered only in white paint, accessorized with signature Margiela footwear and accessories.
Her portraits echo Maison Margiela’s historical bianchetto technique, pioneered by founder Martin Margiela in 1989. This method involves layering white paint on surfaces like clothing, furniture, and now bodies, symbolically revealing the passage of time and creating a blank canvas for artistic expression.
The campaign also features makeup that references the brand’s technique, with white mascara and brushstroke-style white shadow, reinforcing the concept of purity and transformation.
In some photos, Cyrus poses nude with white brushstrokes, reminiscent of her 2008 Vanity Fair cover shot by Annie Leibovitz, which stirred controversy at the time. Though she faced criticism then, she later embraced that bold moment.
Nearly two decades later, Miley Cyrus is again embracing her artistic expression with confidence and control, on her own terms and in her own distinctive style.
