Florida Man in Batman Pajamas Stops Burglary
Wearing his Batman onesie and socks, a man in Florida took matters into his own hands after witnessing a break-in. Responding to a police call early Wednesday morning, he confronted a suspect, helping authorities arrest the individual.
The man, identified as Kyle Myvett, was awakened by his wife after security camera alerts notified him of suspicious activity. He spotted the burglar rummaging through his vehicle and a neighbor’s garage, prompting him to take action.
Myvett described to local media how he approached the suspect quietly, holding onto his shirt and wrist, and warned him not to try escaping. He credited his confidence to wearing his Batman pajamas, which he said gave him the boost he needed to act decisively.
He stated, “Without the person seeing me, I grabbed a hold of their shirt and right wrist and told him, ‘Don’t try to get away, I have plenty of experience with this.’”
The suspect, 20-year-old Justin Schimpl, was detained by police and found to be in possession of stolen goods, including two pairs of Ray-Ban sunglasses, cash, a bracelet, and gift cards. He faces multiple charges, including three counts of burglary and two of petty theft.
According to authorities, Schimpl was taken into custody thanks to Kyle’s quick response and bravery.
