Upstate NY Dog Boarders Charged After 21 Dogs Die in Their Care

Dog Boarding Facility Owners Face Animal Cruelty Charges After 21 Dogs Die

Owners of an upstate New York dog boarding business have been charged with animal cruelty following the death of 21 dogs in their care. Authorities responded after reports surfaced of deceased dogs at Anastasia’s Acres Dog Boarding in Argyle. Investigators found the bodies of 21 dogs, with one being taken to an emergency veterinary clinic for urgent care.

The owners, Robert Palulis, 48, and Anastasia Palulis, 38, were detained at their facility when officers arrived. They are accused of providing inadequate water and ventilation, which allegedly contributed to the dogs’ deaths. Investigators revealed that ventilation issues at the facility caused suffocation among the animals.

One pet owner, Hannah Elmore, was grieving after learning her family dog, Piglet, had died at the facility. She shared that Piglet was always affectionate and missed dearly. Another owner, Leah Brown, lost her dog Rex, and investigators cited ventilation failure as a cause of suffocation.

The couple faces 22 counts of animal torture, overdriving, and neglect, including failure to provide proper care. They have been released on appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear in court later. The facility’s social media pages have been taken offline since the incident surfaced.
