Grassley Says Biden Was Controlled by Staff and Will Be Remembered as an Ineffective Leader

Senator Chuck Grassley Criticizes President Biden’s Legacy

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) recently expressed concerns about the lasting impact of Joe Biden’s presidency, citing family influence peddling and alleged health issues as factors that will tarnish his legacy.

Grassley remarked that Biden, who has appeared less involved in recent years, may not be remembered as an effective leader. Despite their longstanding relationship on Capitol Hill, Grassley clarified that he saw Biden as neither corrupt nor incompetent, and they maintained a generally amicable working relationship for nearly three decades.

Asked about Biden’s presidency, Grassley reflected on his earlier perception of Biden compared to the President he is today.

Grassley claimed that Biden’s physical and mental decline after leaving the Senate in 2008 contributed to various unpopular decisions during his presidency, including mass pardons and sentence commutations, often driven by aides. He highlighted Biden’s limited direct interactions with him, noting he only had one face-to-face meeting with the President during his tenure.

He suggested that Biden’s health changes and staff influence have significantly affected his decision-making, including the controversial pardoning of certain offenders and his son’s leniency. Grassley also emphasized his work uncovering payments from foreign associates to Hunter Biden and pressing the FBI on a confidential informant linked to a $10 million bribery scheme involving Hunter and Joe Biden.

The law enforcement relationship with informant Alexander Smirnov, who was paid for misinformation, was also scrutinized by Grassley.

Grassley pointed out that despite extensive investigations, prosecutors, including special counsel David Weiss, did not pursue additional charges against Hunter Biden for failing to register as a foreign agent, citing insufficient evidence.

Controversy Over Biden’s Pardons

Biden pardoned his son shortly before leaving office, sparking criticism, as he had previously sworn never to issue such clemency. Grassley described the pardon, which covered offenses from 2014 to 2024, as unjustified and indicative of Hunter Biden’s guilt.

Grassley expressed that he was not surprised by the broad clemency but believes it was wrong and an admission of guilt, underscoring ongoing debates about Biden’s health and integrity as president.
