Cause of Death Revealed in Double Homicide of “American Idol” Executive

More than a month after their bodies were found inside their Los Angeles residence, the official cause of death has been disclosed for Robin Kaye, a respected music supervisor for “American Idol,” and her husband, Thomas Deluce.

Both victims, aged 70, died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to death certificates. These documents reveal that Deluce was shot and died within seconds, while Kaye endured her injuries for several minutes before passing away.

The couple’s death certificates list their time of death as when authorities discovered their bodies on July 14, despite the shootings occurring earlier on July 10. They had returned home from shopping in Encino when Raymond Boodarian, a 22-year-old suspect with a history of mental illness and prior arrests, reportedly entered the house through an unlocked door and killed them execution-style with their own gun.

Initial investigations indicated the suspect fled on foot. A neighbor had observed someone jump the fence around 4 p.m. on the day of the murders and called police. However, officers found the couple already deceased upon arrival, despite conducting a thorough outside search including helicopter surveillance.

Four days later, authorities conducted a welfare check and found the victims shot inside. Boodarian was arrested the following day, with fingerprint evidence linking him to the crime scene and leading to formal charges of two counts of murder.

His initial court appearance was abruptly terminated when he refused to respond to the judge. He is scheduled for a mental health evaluation on September 3 and remains in custody without bail. Boodarian has prior arrests, including charges of battery and threats with a weapon, with records indicating some arrests resulted in releases the same day.

Kaye’s tenure at “American Idol” spanned over 15 years, during which she received several Guild of Music Supervisors Awards.
