FBI Searches Washington Campground in Travis Decker Manhunt After Daughter Tragedy

Massive Search Underway for Fugitive Dad Accused of Killing His Three Daughters

Authorities are conducting a large-scale search near a campground where a man accused of murdering his three young daughters has been missing for nearly three months. Approximately 100 federal and local agents, including FBI specialists, are systematically combing the area around Rock Island Campground, which remains closed to the public through Wednesday.

The three girls—Paityn, 9; Evelyn, 8; and Olivia, 5—were found suffocated with zip ties around their wrists and necks on June 2, close to the campground in Leavenworth, near Decker’s abandoned vehicle. Their bodies were discovered after their mother reported them missing when Travis Decker, a former Army member and wilderness survivalist, failed to return with them following a court-ordered visit on May 30.

Authorities believe Decker murdered his daughters shortly after picking them up. His truck, found nearby, bore bloody handprints on the tailgate, and his dog was rescued from the scene and is now in care at the Humane Society. Initial searches did not locate Decker, and officials express concern that natural elements and terrain might have already eroded potential evidence.

Sheriff Michael Morrison emphasized the commitment of law enforcement: “We understand the girls wouldn’t want us to give up,” he said. The search will continue diligently, regardless of upcoming holiday weekend plans, until Decker is apprehended or confirmed dead. The case remains a top priority, with officials seeking answers and closure for the families.

Law enforcement officials have yet to determine Decker’s current status, and the ongoing extensive grid search aims to find him while thoroughly documenting the scene. Their focus remains unwavering: finding Decker and ensuring justice for the victims.
