Chris Watts Claims God Has Forgiven Him for Family Murders
Chris Watts Claims to Have Changed and Been Forgiven in Prison
Convicted murderer Chris Watts, currently serving a life sentence, has written to a female pen pal expressing that he is now a “new man” and has received forgiveness from God. Watts, 40, claims to have taken full responsibility for his actions, stating that he was misled by his mistress at the time of the murders.
In handwritten letters, Watts described himself as a “new creature,” citing a biblical verse from 2 Corinthians 5:17: “if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” He expressed that forgiving himself has been the most difficult part of his journey, but now feels at peace.
Watts admitted to strangling his wife, Shanann, who was 15 weeks pregnant, and suffocating their daughters, Bella and Celeste, before disposing of their bodies in oil drums. He claimed that he is a “new man” after all he has been through in prison, asserting that he has confessed his sins and been forgiven by God.
He further reflected on his internal transformation, saying, “I am not the person who committed those horrible acts. I’m a new creature,” quoting the Bible. Watts noted that, despite God’s separation of his sins, forgiving himself remains an ongoing struggle, but he has finally found peace.
He reiterated his belief that he was misled by Nichol Kessinger, his mistress at the time of the murders, whom he described as a “harlot” and a “Jezebel” who led him astray. Watts expressed that he intends to leave justice for her to divine intervention, emphasizing his own weakness and moral lapse during that period.
While Kessinger was involved in an affair with Watts, she was never implicated in the crimes. Watts concludes that his past actions do not define him and that he has embraced a new spiritual path inside prison.
