Zohran Mamdani Struggles to Bench Press at Brooklyn Men’s Day

Mayoral Candidate Struggles with Strength Test at Brooklyn Event

During the annual Men’s Day open streets celebration in Brooklyn, Zohran Mamdani, a leading candidate for the 2025 mayoral race, attempted to showcase his strength by performing a bench press. However, the 33-year-old Democratic Socialist struggled to lift a loaded bar, requiring full assistance from a spotter to complete two repetitions. Photos captured Mamdani unable to remove the 135-pound bar from the rack on his own, highlighting the humorous moment.

After concluding his attempt, Mamdani praised his spotter from “500 Men Making a Difference” for helping him finish the lift. Despite this display of physical challenge, Mamdani demonstrated agility and skill with a soccer ball, a nod to his Ugandan roots. He removed his designer boots to kick a soccer ball at an inflatable target with enthusiasm, ultimately striking a large inflatable dartboard set up by event organizers.

He also engaged with the crowd, taking numerous selfies as he walked along Eastern Parkway past the Brooklyn Museum during the event, which features outdoor gyms, musical performances, and car shows. Mamdani briefly addressed attendees, expressing gratitude for the community’s celebration and reaffirming his intention to become the city’s next mayor.
