Malcolm McDowell Criticizes His Daughter-in-Law’s Show, But Praises Her Talent

Malcolm McDowell, the father-in-law of Lily Collins, shared his candid opinion about her Netflix series, Emily in Paris. In an interview, the 82-year-old actor confessed that he isn’t a fan of the show, stating, “To be honest with you, it’s not my kind of thing, and Lily knows that.” Despite this, he emphasized his admiration for her talent: “But I’m the biggest fan of my daughter-in-law. I think she’s absolutely one of the great actresses.”

McDowell praised Collins’ on-screen presence, describing her as someone who captivates audiences whenever she appears. “When she’s on the screen, there’s nobody else because she’s not only a good actress but has a beautiful quality, a sort of charisma,” he added.

Collins has been married to Malcolm’s son, director Charlie McDowell, since September 2021. The couple welcomed their daughter, Tove, via surrogate in January. Malcolm has expressed his affection for Collins’ acting talent, despite his personal preferences regarding the show.
