Eze’s £60m Arsenal Transfer: Gunners Hijack Spurs for Palace Star

Arsenal Signs Eberechi Eze in £67.5 Million Deal

Arsenal has secured the signature of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace for a fee of £67.5 million on a four-year contract, with the player to wear the No.10 shirt. Eze is expected to be officially presented at the Emirates today before the team’s match against Leeds United.

The move comes after a remarkable transfer saga, where Tottenham Hotspur initially agreed terms with the player, only for Arsenal to swoop in at the last moment. Eze was keen to join Spurs after they agreed personal terms, but Arsenal’s late intervention changed the course of events.

In his farewell message to Palace, Eze expressed gratitude for his five years at the club, highlighting memorable moments, including their historic Wembley appearance and the support from fans during challenging times like injury recovery.

Crystal Palace had initially intended for Eze to remain available for their upcoming European Conference League match, but he did not feature in the game, calling in sick on the day of the match. Palace later confirmed that Eze would no longer play for them, and their manager stated that the player would not be returning to the team.

The transfer was finalized after Palace accepted Arsenal’s offer, believed to be around £60 million plus bonuses. Eze’s decision was influenced by a meeting with Arsenal’s key club figures and manager Mikel Arteta, who impressed him during negotiations.

This transfer marks Arsenal’s seventh signing of the summer, boosting their squad with a significant investment of approximately £250 million. Eze’s contract includes a potential extension for an additional year.
