Italian Club Shows Serious Interest in Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund, Considers Obligation to Buy Clause

The Italian football giants are progressing in negotiations to acquire Manchester United’s striker Rasmus Hojlund, now contemplating including a binding obligation to purchase in the deal, rather than just a loan option.

Napoli is actively engaging in talks with Manchester United to sign Hojlund, who is keen on a permanent transfer after being informed about limited playing opportunities at Old Trafford this season. The club has been motivated by the injury of Romelu Lukaku and the Danish forward’s desire for more consistent game time.

Originally, Napoli’s negotiations involved a potential loan with an option to buy, but recent reports suggest they are now prepared to commit to an outright purchase. The move comes amidst competition from AC Milan, who also expressed interest, though their own recruitment plans appear to be more focused on Victor Boniface.

Hojlund has scored 26 goals in 95 appearances since transferring from Atalanta for £72 million in 2023. Despite his potential, he has yet to establish himself as a regular starter, especially after being omitted from Manchester United’s squad for the opening match of the season.

Should the transfer materialize, Hojlund would reunite with former United teammate Scott McTominay at Napoli, who enjoyed success in Italy after signing with the club. Manchester United, on the other hand, has a deep squad at the forward position, including Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, and Joshua Zirkzee, making Hojlund’s departure potentially beneficial for both parties.
