Gunfire Inside Brooklyn Restaurant Leaves Three Dead and Eight Injured

Multiple assailants opened fire inside a Brooklyn restaurant just before 3:30 a.m., resulting in three fatalities and eight injuries. The incident occurred at the Taste of the City Lounge located at 903 Franklin Avenue in the Crown Heights neighborhood.

Responding officers found a chaotic scene, with NYPD personnel photographing broken glass and bloodstains at the scene. At least 36 shell casings were recovered from the area. The three men who were killed are aged 27, 35, and an unspecified age. The injured victims were transported to nearby hospitals, with their conditions remaining undisclosed.

No suspects have been identified or detained, and no arrests have been made. The authorities continue to investigate the event.

In a briefing, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch noted that this incident is an anomaly given the city’s record low shooting numbers for the year. She emphasized that the event is a tragic exception amidst ongoing efforts to reduce gun violence in the city.

The restaurant, which opened in 2022, offers American and Caribbean cuisine along with a full bar, hookah lounge, and DJs. It is situated less than half a mile from the Brooklyn Museum and had closed early that morning.
