Grandma Survives Breast Cancer, Hits $2M Monopoly Jackpot in PA
Breast Cancer Survivor Wins Over $2 Million Playing Online Monopoly
A grandmother and breast cancer survivor from Pennsylvania recently hit the jackpot, winning more than $2.02 million in an online Monopoly game — the largest prize ever awarded for the game in the state.
Nicole Walter, 42, who has 10 grandchildren, was playing the Monopoly Progressive Jackpots game on her cellphone during a casual session with her fiancé when she received a life-changing surprise. Her screen suddenly went blank, and a message displayed her winnings of over $2 million.
“I was playing Pennsylvania Lottery games on my phone, and he was doing the same. He suggested we try the Monopoly game, so I gave it a shot,” Walter explained.
Just after completing her radiation treatments for cancer earlier in the year, Walter was taken aback by her windfall. She also previously survived a heart attack, making her victory all the more inspiring.
She has been a player of Pennsylvania’s online lottery since its launch in 2018, attracted by its convenience. With her winnings, she plans to invest in renovating her cherished farmhouse, a property sold to her by a close friend. She also expressed her desire to create lasting memories with her family and pursue her passions, including her love for race cars.
Her incredible story highlights how quickly life can change and the importance of hope. The Pennsylvania Lottery’s online games have generated over half a billion dollars to fund programs for seniors across the state, emphasizing their positive impact beyond the jackpot wins.
