Exclusive: Minnesota Manacc Vance Boelter Calls Governor Walz “Traitor”
Accused Minnesota Man Vance Boelter Questions Governor Walz and Claims Conspiracy
Vance Boelter, a 57-year-old charged with multiple shootings, has publicly alleged that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz was a “traitor to the American people.” In an exclusive message from Sherburne County Jail, Boelter claimed he first met Walz when the governor reappointed him to a state council in 2019. Boelter also accused Walz of praising China and its control over its population, stating that Walz “was always telling me China was the future.”
Boelter, who has previously criticized Walz’s ties to China—visiting the country more than 30 times—asserted that the governor believed in a system where “everyone should be either working for or supported by the government.” He claimed Walz’s name was on a list he carried on June 14, the day Boelter allegedly carried out a shooting spree targeting Minnesota politicians, including House Speaker Melissa Hortman and Senator John Hoffman. Boelter has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Boelter insisted the list was not a “hit list,” but rather composed of individuals “receiving large amounts of money from the Chinese government,” citing undisclosed documents. He stated he initially planned to make “4 or 5 Citizen arrests” and believed everyone would be released safely the next morning. His intended targets, he claimed, were involved in covering up alleged harms caused by the COVID-19 vaccine in Minnesota.
During the attack, Boelter claimed his plan went awry when the victims, Senator Hoffman, his wife Yvette, and their daughter, rushed him in an attempt to subdue him. He recounted aiming his gun at the ground to avoid shooting himself, then firing until he was outside the house. He says his mask shifted during the struggle, making it difficult to see where he was shooting.
Boelter also questioned the justice process, stating he shouldn’t be sentenced to death because he did not shoot at police during their pursuit, and argued such actions send negative messages about government values. The U.S. Attorney’s office dismissed Boelter’s claims as “fantasy,” and local prosecutors have stated there is no evidence supporting his allegations against Walz.
The incident has sparked controversy, with Walz’s office calling it a “deeply disturbing tragedy,” and ongoing investigations continue to scrutinize the events leading up to the shootings.
