Brentford Signs £42M Premier League Forward, Wissa’s Newcastle Deal Opens Door

Brentford Agrees £42 Million Deal to Sign Premier League Forward, Medical Today, Opening Path for Wissa’s Potential Move to Newcastle

Brentford has reached a preliminary agreement to acquire winger Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth for £42 million. The versatile Burkina Faso international is expected to undergo his medical today as part of the transfer process.

Ouattara’s contract with Bournemouth was set to run for three more years, but he made it clear he wanted to leave. Bournemouth deemed the transfer fee of £37 million plus £5 million in add-ons reasonable, and they have agreed to let the player go, facilitating his move to Brentford.

The arrival of Ouattara could influence Brentford’s plans for Yoane Wissa, with reports suggesting the club may permit Wissa to depart, especially with Newcastle United expressing interest in signing the 28-year-old. Brentford is reportedly seeking around £40 million for Wissa.

Wissa, who scored 19 league goals and provided five assists last season, has a contract that expires in a year’s time, with an option to extend it until 2027. Wissa has expressed a desire to join Newcastle, and with personal terms seemingly manageable, the transfer hinges on a fee agreement.

Clubs are actively working on options, as Newcastle also remains interested in acquiring another forward, amid uncertainties regarding Alexander Isak’s future. Wissa has missed much of Brentford’s pre-season after leaving training in Portugal in late July but returned last week following discussions with the head coach.
