During her appearance on the “New Heights” podcast, Swift recalled her first date, where she inquired about the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Eagles — Jason Kelce’s former team — and wondered what it was like to see his brother on the other side of the line of scrimmage.
“He didn’t even look at me,” she joked, acknowledging her question was “insane.” Travis explained, “Actually, I’m on the offense and my brother’s on the offense, and I’m only on the field when we’re on defense.”
She admitted she thought players were on the field simultaneously, now having become “obsessed” with the sport. Travis expressed appreciation for her enthusiasm, saying, “I am forever thankful for you diving into football wholeheartedly.”
Her curiosity was further fueled by the 2023 Super Bowl, where Jason Kelce played for the Eagles and Travis for the Chiefs — narrowly won by Kansas City, 38-35.
They started dating later that summer, after Travis attended her Eras Tour concert in Missouri. Initially, he was frustrated because he couldn’t meet her backstage, having made a friendship bracelet with his number, which he wanted to gift her—but she was unavailable.
He shared that he “took it personally” because she didn’t meet anyone backstage initially. On the podcast, Swift joked about his persistence, saying he “threw a tantrum,” and described her surprise at his romantic gesture of wanting to date her.
