Man Accused of Shooting Wheelchair-Bound Veteran in Downtown Seattle

A suspect, Gregory Timm, who previously caused a scene by crashing his car into a political voter registration drive, now faces charges after shooting a disabled man in Seattle’s waterfront area.

On July 31, in a confrontation along the Alaskan Way promenade, Timm challenged a 68-year-old veteran about his military service. Eyewitness video shows Timm demanding to see the victim’s military ID and removing a military patch from his belongings just before the shooting.

According to court footage, the victim initially brandished what appeared to be an airsoft gun, prompting Timm to step back, open his bag, and pull out a real pistol. As bystanders watched in horror, Timm fired a shot into the man’s chest, causing chaos and sending families running for cover.

After firing, Timm raised his hands and apologized to confused onlookers. He then put the gun away and shouted at the victim to holster his weapon as well.

Timm was arrested at the scene without resistance and is charged with first-degree assault, a serious felony with bail set at $750,000. The wounded man, known for spreading positive vibes through his music, was rushed to the hospital in critical but stable condition.

Prosecutors argue that Timm initiated the violence by demanding the military ID and removing a patch, actions which they say made him the aggressor. His attorney claims he acted in self-defense, asserting the victim drew a gun first. However, officials maintain Timm’s conduct was deliberate and aggressive.

In 2020, Timm was involved in another controversial act when he drove into a Republican voter registration tent in Florida, an incident he later described as his duty, citing dissatisfaction with President Trump’s policies.

The case continues to unfold as authorities evaluate prior convictions and evidence to determine the full scope of Timm’s actions.
