Taylor Swift Announces New Album During Podcast Appearance

Pop superstar Taylor Swift has revealed the title of her 12th studio album, called The Life of a Showgirl, during a surprise interview on her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast, New Heights. In a clip shared prior to the episode, she presented a mint green briefcase with her initials, announcing, “This is my new album.” The news was met with excitement from Travis Kelce and his brother, Jason.

Swift shared that she had set a countdown to the album release on her official website, timed for early morning August 12 at 12:12 a.m. The album cover was blurred in her preview, but she confirmed the title during the podcast. Kelce enthusiastically chimed in, “TS 12!”

Earlier this year, Swift bought back the rights to her first six albums—including Taylor Swift and Fearless—a move she described as emotionally overwhelming, sharing a heartfelt note on Instagram expressing her joy at reclaiming her music ownership. She emphasized that she now owns the rights to her entire catalog, including unreleased material, videos, and artwork, and hinted at future releases of vault tracks.

Despite re-recording some of her earlier albums, including her debut, she indicated she has not yet completed her re-recordings of her 2017 album Reputation, leaving fans eager for more re-releases.

The singer also reflected on her journey, stating that she now views her music achievements as a celebration rather than sadness, especially after the rights to her earlier work were legally restored. She mentioned plans to release additional albums when the timing feels right, adding that she could revisit her earlier work in the future.

In the meantime, Swift continues to work on new projects, with reports indicating she is filming a top-secret music video in Los Angeles. Her latest musical endeavors follow her record-breaking Eras Tour and her recent business moves, including acquiring her original masters.
