Pregnant Woman’s Body Discovered in Ohio; Two Men Arrested

Law enforcement authorities in Ohio have apprehended two suspects after the body of a pregnant woman was found abandoned along a rural road.

On August 7, two hikers along Fort Anthony Road in Jackson Township came across the body of 28-year-old Brittany Fuhr-Storms. She was wrapped in towels and placed inside a large plastic tote, emitting a strong odor that prompted their discovery.

One of the hikers hesitated to open the tote due to the intensity of the smell, describing it as unusual for a dead body. An autopsy later confirmed that Fuhr-Storms was pregnant at the time of her death.

The investigation traced her last known whereabouts to her home in Middletown, where she had reportedly met with two men. Authorities executed a search warrant and arrested James Rotherbusch, 52, at his residence. Items recovered included a bloodstain, a blue tarp, screws, and towels matching those used to wrap Fuhr-Storms’ body.

Rotherbusch claimed that Fuhr-Storms died under suspicious circumstances in his home, and that her body remained there for about a week before he moved it to the roadside. He admitted to leaving her body in the shower for days before placing her in a tote and transporting her to the scene.

Additionally, police found narcotics and drug paraphernalia inside Rotherbusch’s apartment. The other suspect, Ricky J. Sheppard, 47, was detained after attempting to flee. He told authorities that Fuhr-Storms died from a drug overdose, and her body was discarded roughly a week later.

Both men face charges of gross abuse of a corpse and evidence tampering. Rotherbusch also faces multiple drug-related charges, including drug trafficking and possession.

The case has garnered widespread shock from the local community, with law enforcement praising the cooperation that led to the arrests. Residents expressed surprise, unaware of the tragic events unfolding nearby.
