Zelensky Vows Ukraine Won’t Yield Land Before Trump-Putin Alaska Meeting

Ukrainian President Vows No Land Will Be Ceded During Russia Conflict

President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine reaffirmed that his country will not surrender any territories occupied by Russia during its ongoing three-year invasion. As efforts to find peace continue, Zelensky emphasized that any peace agreements excluding Ukraine are inherently unviable and opposed to genuine resolution.

In a video address, Zelensky stated, “The Ukrainian people deserve peace. But all partners must recognize what a dignified peace entails. This war must end—and Russia must be the one to conclude it. Russia initiated this conflict and continues to extend it, disregarding deadlines.”

He expressed openness to working with international partners, including former President Donald Trump, for a durable peace that withstands Moscow’s demands. Zelensky warned against land concessions to Russia, insisting Ukraine’s sovereignty must be preserved.

He criticized Russia’s leadership for ignoring the Ukrainian population, highlighting that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decision to invade was a fundamental mistake, as it underestimated Ukrainians’ resilience and resolve. Zelensky added, “I believe in our people. Ukrainians are strong and defend what is theirs.”

The upcoming meeting between Trump and Putin, scheduled for August 15 in Alaska, marks another step in diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict. Trump announced the summit, citing security considerations as a delay in confirming the location, but expressed eagerness for the dialogue.

While the war persists with ongoing attacks, including recent strikes in Odesa and Donetsk, Zelensky remains committed to resisting territorial losses and advocates for genuine peace negotiations that include Ukraine’s interests.
