Man United Open Door for Rasmus Hojlund’s Serie A Return Amid £72m Transfer Fallout
Manchester United Considering Rasmus Hojlund Exit After New Signing
Manchester United are reportedly open to letting Rasmus Hojlund leave the club this summer, following the signing of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.
The 22-year-old Danish forward has fallen out of favor at Old Trafford, especially after new manager Ruben Amorim took over midway through last season. Hojlund’s position further declined after the arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, who are set to strengthen the attacking options.
Recent reports suggest that AC Milan is interested in securing Hojlund’s services on a loan deal, with the Italian club reportedly willing to include an obligation to buy should the transfer go through. This arrangement would allow Milan to pay the transfer fee in installments rather than a lump sum upfront.
Hojlund has scored 26 goals across 95 appearances since transferring from Atalanta in 2023. With his move to Manchester United now potentially in limbo, his return to Serie A seems increasingly likely, especially with Sesko nearing a move from RB Leipzig.
United have reportedly agreed to a transfer deal worth an initial £66.4 million, with additional bonuses. Despite competition from Newcastle United, who had earlier bid more for Sesko, the Slovenian international preferred Manchester United, facilitating a quick agreement.
Sesko’s arrival aims to overhaul United’s attack, joining new signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. The 22-year-old midfielder will be expected to make an immediate impact, having scored 21 goals last season for RB Leipzig and establishing himself as a rising star.
Since moving from Red Bull Salzburg, Sesko has netted 39 goals and provided eight assists in 87 matches. His national team appearances for Slovenia number 41, and he is seen as having the potential to become a top player at United.
