Ex-Man United Player Pleads for Help After House Burglarized and Car Stolen in Night Raid

Former Manchester United Player Seeks Help After House Burgled During Move

Demetri Mitchell, a former academy player at Manchester United, has shared his distress after experiencing a burglary in Essex during his recent house move. The 28-year-old, who recently joined Leyton Orient, was moving from Manchester when the theft occurred overnight.

Mitchell explained that burglars broke into his property, stole his car keys, and drove away with his car, which was loaded with valuables. He took to social media to request assistance in recovering his vehicle, sharing its registration number and asking for any information from the public.

He posted on X: “Just been burgled last night in Essex. They broke in, stole my car keys, and took my valuables while I was moving from Manchester.” He also included the car’s registration: YH25 VDD.

Mitchell, who was promoted through Manchester United’s youth ranks and made his first-team debut under Jose Mourinho in 2017, has played for several clubs including Hearts, Blackpool, Hibernian, and Exeter City.

The incident highlights a worrying pattern of footballers falling victim to burglaries and car thefts. Notably, Newcastle’s Joelinton was targeted twice in 2024, with his home being burgled for the second time in January.

Mitchell emphasized the importance of safety and privacy, stating on social media: “Our home was broken into again. There is nothing valuable left here. Most importantly, we want our family to feel safe and live peacefully.” His message resonates with a broader concern over crime affecting public figures and their families.
