Malik Beasley Evicted from Detroit Apartment Over Unpaid Rent
Uncertain Future for Malik Beasley Amid FBI Investigation
Malik Beasley’s prospects of rejoining the Detroit Pistons or any NBA team remain uncertain as he is under investigation by federal authorities for alleged involvement in gambling and prop bets. If he does remain with the Pistons, he would need to find new accommodation in Detroit, as he was recently evicted from his downtown high-rise apartment.
The 28-year-old guard was evicted after being sued twice for unpaid rent totaling $21,500 at The Stott building, owned by Bedrock Detroit. A court ruling was issued in August due to unpaid rent of over $7,300, with Beasley having refused to respond to the second lawsuit.
Despite legal and legal future uncertainties, Beasley remains optimistic about playing in the NBA next season. He has been actively training and sharing videos on social media from Miami, alongside other leisure activities. Recently, he posted a story on Snapchat indicating he is open to returning to the Pistons or exploring offers from other teams.
The Pistons have recently signed guard Caris LeVert and are working on a trade for Duncan Robinson, suggesting they are moving on without Beasley, who was a key player last season, averaging 16.3 points and shooting 42% from three-point range. Beasley played all 82 games and contributed significantly, finishing second in Sixth Man of the Year voting after helping the team reach the playoffs following a poor previous season.
His future in the league remains uncertain as investigations continue, though he maintains that he has not been charged with any crime.
