Colorado Family of 5 Tragically Killed in Fiery Highway Crash
Family of Five Killed in Colorado Wrong-Way Crash
Tragedy struck when a family of five was involved in a fatal head-on collision with a wrong-way driver early Monday morning in Colorado. The family was traveling in a GMC Yukon SUV along a highway shortly after 7 a.m. when an oncoming vehicle veered into their lane and collided with them at high speed. The impact caused both vehicles to erupt into flames, despite immediate rescue efforts.
All five family members, including two young children aged 2 and 12, lost their lives at the scene. They were identified as Andres Cabral-Banuelos (2), Manuel Cabral-Banuelos (5), Maria Cabral-Banuelos (12), along with adults Andrea Banuelos-Salazar (30), and Manuel Cabral-Torres (34). The driver of the other vehicle, a Ford F-150 pickup truck, was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
The victims resided in Kremmling, a small town about 100 miles from Denver. Their extended family described the loss as devastating, emphasizing how the youngest was just 2 years old and the oldest 12. A fundraiser was launched to assist with transportation and funeral expenses for the family.
Community members have expressed their sorrow, recalling Manuel’s efforts to bring family together. As the state sees a decline in traffic fatalities—from 307 last year to 278 so far this year—the incident underscores ongoing concerns about road safety.
