Why Brooke Hogan Skipped Hulk’s Funeral Over Dad’s ‘Weird’ D:ea:th
Brooke Hogan Opts for Personal Farewell Instead of Public Funeral
Brooke Hogan chose to honor her late father, Hulk Hogan, in her own way rather than attend his funeral. The former wrestler died on July 24 at age 71 after suffering a cardiac arrest.
While Hulk Hogan’s family gathered in Florida for his memorial service, Brooke spent the day relaxing at the beach with her husband, Steven Oleksy, and their six-month-old twins, Oliver and Molly. She explained on Instagram that her father disliked the somberness of funerals and preferred to avoid them, a sentiment she respected. She shared that her family’s beach outing felt like a meaningful tribute, imagining Hulk sitting nearby, watching the sunset.
Brooke highlighted that the simple act of taking her children to the ocean—an activity Hulk loved—was her way of connecting with him. She mentioned her daughter Molly, who adored the water, and believed Hulk would have called her a “little fish.” The outing, she said, made her feel the closest to her father, emphasizing the importance of honoring him in a way that felt true to her heart.
She concluded her message by expressing her love and respect for Hulk, acknowledging that although they had been estranged for years, her feelings remained deep. “Every grain of sand and every wave reminded me of being your beach baby,” she wrote. “I pray you are at peace, knowing how dearly I love you. Rest in heaven, Daddy ❤️.”
Brooke also skipped WWE’s tribute show last month, citing she was not invited. The memorial service in Largo, Florida, drew many notable attendees, including Bam Margera, Vince McMahon, Ric Flair, Dennis Rodman, Triple H, and Kid Rock. Hulk Hogan’s passing was confirmed to be due to a heart attack, and he had been secretly battling leukemia prior to his death.
