California Mom’s Heartbreak as Baby Goes Missing During Formula Run

Mother and Baby Go Missing During Errand in Fresno

A family in California is urgently seeking answers after a mother and her infant daughter disappeared while returning from a doctor’s appointment in Fresno on July 15.

Whisper Owen, 36, was driving her silver 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer with her 8-month-old daughter, Sandra McCarty, when they went missing. The last known sighting was northwest of Fresno, in Atwater, where a traffic camera captured the vehicle around 8 p.m. Owen had stopped briefly in Atwater to buy baby formula, as her supply was nearly exhausted.

Her family became concerned when Owen and Sandra failed to return home that night. Her partner reported them missing, and the entire family only learned of their disappearance days later. Authorities noted that the vehicle has not been seen on traffic cameras since, and Owen’s phone remains turned off, intensifying fears.

Owen’s family insists she would not have left her children voluntarily, emphasizing her stable home life. Her sister, Andrea McCarty, shared that they have traveled to Atwater hoping to find clues, and they urge law enforcement to intensify their search.

“We just want to find them before it’s too late,” said Sandra’s sister.
“Her car is no longer on cameras, and her phone is off. We fear the worst.”

Authorities have yet to release further details, and the family continues to hold hope for a safe return.
